Third Thursday Demo - May 18

We're doing something special for our May Third Thursday Demo on Thursday at 12:30 and it involves you! We will be discussing and showing how we organize our sewing areas and fabric stashes. Bring your best ideas to share and gather new ones from others. Judith will facilitate the discussion, and we'll have some organizational items available for purchase.

A&L Group Meets Thursday

Immediately following the Third Thursday Demo, the Arts & Landscape group will meet for about an hour. Bring show & tell and see what other artists are up to. These gatherings are always inspiring. Bring a friend.

Embroidery Block-of-the-Month

Charmed Adventure Embroidery Block of the Month Sign Up
Saturday, June 17, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

We are excited to offer our first Embroidery Block of the Month. The design is Charmed Adventure by Hoopsisters. There is no better way to learn about your embroidery machine and improve your skills than by participating in a block of the month. And you will have a gorgeous quilt when you are done.

Charmed Adventure is a five-month program, however we are offering classes for seven months to allow you to skip two months and still keep up. The blocks are all created and quilted in the hoop. Charmed Adventure features a center medallion that is paper-pieced and then embroidered. The finished quilt size will depend on the size of blocks (5” – 9”) that you decide to make.

We will have a sample of the Charmed Adventure Quilt in the shop for approximately a week (including June 17). Additional quilt block samples will be available as we complete them.

Details . . .

Fee: $150 if you register in person or by phone on or before June 17. After June 17 registration is $165. Fee includes designs, videos, and slideshows.

Optional border design: $40.

You must attend the monthly classes to receive the designs.

Fabric requirements and thread key are available here. Purchase your fabric, thread, and stabilizer at Cortez Quilt Company before September 1 and receive a 10% discount.

The first class will be held on Sunday, September 10 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. You should bring your embroidery machine to this session. Subsequent classes will be scheduled on days other than Sunday (dates to be determined). In these classes we will watch the lesson and hand out designs for that month.

If you have questions please contact Cindy at 970-565-7541 or send her an email.

Mystery Quilt: Solved!

Here's the final layout. No one solved the mystery between last week and this week, although Corinna came really close.

Click here to print the final clue.

We will host a Show & Tell after Labor Day when we launch another mystery quilt.

If you attended the Third Thursday Demo in March and picked up a draft copy of Tri-Baby, bring it in and exchange it for a FREE copy of the published pattern. It's been tested (thanks, Sandy!), a few changes were made, and it's available at the shop now.

Service Department: Some Things are Best Left to the Professionals

A customer brought in her machine last week. It was making a noise. Imagine Ann's surprise when she opened the machine up and found this Craftsman screwdriver inside. Now this isn't as bad as a surgeon leaving a pair hemostats inside the abdomen, but really . . . some things are best left to the professionals. If your husband hints that he can fix your sewing machine, we suggest that you politely change the subject and bring it in for service by one of our certified technicians.

Regular price: $70. Sale price $52.50.

Save $1,000 This Week

May 18 - 22 take $1,000 off the amazing BERNINA Q20 sit down longarm quilting machine. Sixty-month 0% financing will also be available for this machine during the sale. Don't miss out!

Cereal Drive

School will be out soon and many children who enjoy free or reduced cost breakfast at school may no longer have access to this important meal. The Good Samaritan Food Pantry is sponsoring a Bring a Box of Cereal to Work food drive May 15-21, and were participating. Bring a full-sized box of cereal to Cortez Quilt Company & Yarn Shop this week and receive 10% off your purchase of fabric, notions, patterns, books, and yarn that day. We will get all the boxes of cereal to the food pantry the following week. Please help out with this important project. Thanks!
