No Ladies Allowed!!This evening is the perfect opportunity for that special guy to come in and pick out  items from your wish list. (If you did not fill out a wish list, please come by or call us to let us know what you are really hoping for under the tree on Christmas morning). We are really good about helping the guys out! We will be gift wrapping for added convenience, along with serving cookies (we know guys can’t shop when hungry!)

Blocks Without Borders:

Blocks Without Borders (an Art & Landscape Society) meets on the Third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m.  Prepare to exchange ideas, along with giving and receiving inspiration.  Don’t forget to bring your Show-N-Tell! We will have a door prize! No RSVP necessary. This meeting usually lasts about an hour.

December Meeting: Each year in May, the Cortez Cultural Center hosts an annual Birding Festival. Blocks Without Borders have been asked to display their work at the Cultural Center during this event, so an official challenge has been started. Please join us on Thursday, December 20th as members begin to formulate their plans for their “Birding” project. Everyone is encouraged to join in!

Guest Instructor: Susan Madden
Learn to create a landscape quilt using your own photo. You’ll learn to make a quilt pattern from your photo and to create your image in fabric using raw edge applique. We’ll talk about composition, color, and fabric choices that work well in translating your photo into a a quilt and you’ll get started on creating your own unique quilt. If landscapes don’t float your boat but flowers do, you can work from a close-up photo of a flower to create a flower portrait in this class.

Class Policies

Classes are limited to 6-8 students (minimum of three) depending on the complexity of the project.

Class fees must be paid and any required pattern/book/notions must be purchased in advance to hold your space.

Store credit will be given for paid classes if you cancel and give 48 hours notice (otherwise, no credit). Refund or store credit (your choice) given for classes if we cancel due to lack of sign ups.

Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, straight pins, etc.) to class. If you prefer, you may use one of our BERNINA classroom machines. We request that you use either Mettler or Aurafil thread on classroom machines.

Bring lunch (we have a fridge and microwave) or order out from one of the many fine restaurants on Main Street. Coffee, tea, water, and soft drinks are complimentary.

It is important to be on time for class. We recommend that you arrive 10 minutes before the class start time. If you arrive earlier please be aware that your instructor will not be available until the class begins.

Please do not park on Main Street in front of the shop when you are here for a class.

Please silence your cell phone while in class. If you need to make a phone call during class, we ask that you step outside or to the back of the store where it’s quiet so that other students are not distracted.

Youth classes are for students 8-16 years of age. Youth members may take the adult classes with instructor approval.

Except for nursing infants up to 12 months of age, children may not attend classes with parents.
