SEW TO SERVE

This month’s BERNINA Sew to Serve feature focuses on helping people in your own community through the American Patchwork & Quilting’s 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge.

With such a fun variety of fine cotton fabric prints available in stores these days, it’s very easy to make a simple pillowcase as a donation for anyone in need, young or old. Many organizations accept pillowcase donations in local communities, and the 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge is inspiring sewers and crafters to help reach a goal of donating one million pillowcases in neighborhoods across the USA. Since the launch of the 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge in 2010, over 941,000 pillowcases have been created and donated through the challenge!

This is a great opportunity for using your sewing skills to help others right in your own hometown, city, or state while helping the APQS 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge reach their goal! You can search the official website to find a participating shop near you to hand in your completed pillowcase donations, or donate your pillowcases locally to an organization near you.

Picture Piecing – Ice Cream Cone
Saturday, March 7, 2020
12:00 Noon – 4:30
$12.00
Skill Level: Intermediate
Instructor: Judy Bryan
Picture Piecing is a unique technique that Cynthia England has developed to achieve detailed quilt imagery. Many quilters assume it is just another name for paper piecing or foundation piecing, but Cynthia’s approach is much more! While similar to these techniques in that it uses paper and straight seams, Picture Piecing has several differences, allowing quilters to achieve detailed imagery more efficiently, with less frustration and fabric waste.

This class is a prerequisite to take more difficult classes that will be scheduled using this technique.
