WHAT A WEEK OF CLASSES!

What an amazing treat we had with Michelle de Groot here to teach us all the way from Australia! Tons of skills were explored ... everything from painting and sun-dyeing fabric, to free-motion quilting and thread work. We loved having Michelle and her mom Carole here... their Aussie spirit was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

We are also excited to report that Michelle will be returning in August of 2020 with new classes!
Be sure to check out our Facebook page to see more photos - they will be uploaded within the next couple of days! You will see how talented all of our customers are, and how much they learned!

These gals made these fun back packs at this week's Sew Days Class.

NEW FABRIC

Wow…it’s hard to capture the unique peaks and valleys of a wave, but Caryl Bryer Fallert Gentry has managed to do it! Her Glacier collection is a perfect wave texture full of movement and grace. The colors are cool, too.

Wait until you see this texture! Just imagine the side of a wooden barn or bridge, beautifully painted. The sun and wind and rain have all had a turn at embracing the wood. It’s been several years and now the washed paint highlights every little nook and cranny and creates a rich surface. That’s Washed Woods. These wood textures range in color from the palest neutrals to reds, greens, blues, and a cool selection of grays. (Gray always adds a modern touch to your project!)
Country farmhouse is certainly the trend right now... just checkout Pinterest!
Benartex is right there with their new washed wood collection.

Meowy Christmas! By special request, the most popular cats on the planet are celebrating Christmas. They’re everywhere… opening presents, under the tree, taking a stretch. One look and it’s easy to see why everyone loves them—they are just so colorful and whimsical, they’re irresistible! This is a holiday collection that will bring smiles and laughter into the season. Try pillows, wallhangings, fabric bags for presents, tree skirts - the list goes on and on. This is the year to have a Purr-fect Christmas!

You can’t help but smile at the sweet snowmen and lively cardinals that bring this fabric to life.Celebrate the holidays this season with only the cutest characters and you’ll be sure to spread the cheer with your next project!

TECH TALK

This week in the tech department, we had a machine brought in because the foot control wasn't working. After examining it, we determined the problem was twofold, in the cable. At the plug end, the cable had been abused, and was severely kinked, breaking the delicate wires within. At the base of the cable, right where it comes out of the foot control, it was broken still worse, and in fact the outer protective casing around the wires was split. This problem was due to winding the cable backwards when putting the foot control away. So the takeaway is this: first, try to be gentle with the foot control cable, and particularly don't let it knot or kink. Second, make sure you always wind your cable clockwise, making a loop only at the very end to tuck everything away.

BERNINA’s practical Magnifying Lens set sharpens your view of the work area. The set contains three magnifying lenses of different strengths, enabling you to choose the most suitable magnification for the project at hand.

The lenses provide an optimum view when threading, and magnify the stitching area. This is especially helpful for precision sewing in tricky places. The magnifying lenses also make lighter work of embroidery, sparing your eyes and reducing fatigue. The Magnifying Lens set also features a bracket for simple mounting to the sewing machine.
