TODD'S TECH TALK
Volume 2

TNT – We’ve ALL gotten so frustrated with our machine that we’ve wanted to take a stick of TNT to it, knowing that watching it disintegrate into a million little pieces will give us a feeling of satisfaction, even if ever so fleeting. However, that is not what I’m suggesting, or even referring to in this talk.

Anytime you have issues with your machine, no matter how minor, remember TNT. Threading, Needle, Tension. Stop what you are doing and rethread your machine. If it still doesn’t work properly, insert a new needle. If that hasn’t solved your problem, then double check your tensions.

If you remember this (and even I have been known to forget when I’m tired and getting frustrated), then it will save you a lot of aggravation and service calls.

Many very experienced ladies have wanted to scrap their machines because it kept shredding their thread for no good reason. I put on a new needle for them and the problem was instantly solved. I, as well as many of you, have fought with a machine for too long trying to get it to sew, like it was just doing a bit earlier, when the only problem is that the thread somehow jumped out of the take-up lever. A simple rethread would have saved several minutes and a headache. Also, I frequently have machines brought in for looping, whether on the top or the bottom, and all the machine needs is to have the tensions properly adjusted.

So, save yourself money, time, and aggravation by remembering TNT first. As always, feel free to call me, even for the small aggravations. If you call me before they become big aggravations, I may be able to walk you through a solution that will get you back to happily sewing in short order, rather than dreading facing that machine again for a day or two.

Happy sewing,

Todd – Here to make sewing enjoyable and trouble-free.
