We will have a door prize! No RSVP necessary. This meeting usually lasts about an hour.

Note From Marie Wirth:
January:

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and you are all ready to get creative! Susan Madden will be sharing her expertise on  how to show flow and motion in art and landscape quilts from the design process to free motion quilting, from landscape forms to water, heat and wind. If you need ideas for a project you’re working on, bring it and we’ll look at ways to make it dynamic.

We will also spend some time talking about the bird project so please bring whatever you are working on, bring your ideas, your questions and your inspiration. We would like to shoot for having them completed by March or April so jump in and get started!  They can be realistic or totally imaginary!

As always please bring any pieces that you would like to share with the group, done, in progress or whatever because we love to see what all these creative minds have been up to. if you have an idea or skill or talent you want to share with us please let me know.

Hope to see you all Jan. 17 at 1pm.

UFO CHALLENGE

UFO Challenge
Friday, January 11- May 4, 2019

“I still have so many projects to finish.”
“I can’t start anything new until I finish something.”
“You would not believe how many projects are sitting in my sewing room.”

By request, (actually DEMAND)... We are starting a Winter/Spring UFO Challenge.
For the uninitiated or compulsively organized, UFO means unfinished object. Also known as PhDs . . . projects half done.

Here’s the deal. Bring in your UFOs starting this Friday, January 11th. You have until January 31st to register.  We will register each one and log them into your personal page in our special UFO Challenge binder. Then, get busy sewing! (Remember . . . any day we’re not having class or special event you are welcome to come to the shop to work on your projects.) Each time you finish a UFO, bring it back to the shop. We will mark it complete and you will be entered to win (see below). The more UFOs you finish the more chances you have to win.

Rules

• UFO must be a quilt, wall hanging, table runner, purse, or tote bag. It can also be a garment. Yes, place mats will count, but you have to have at least 4 of them.

• UFO must be started (i.e., fabric and pattern in a bag or a kit you haven’t begun won’t qualify).

• UFO must require at least one hour of work to complete (e.g., six inches left to bind won’t qualify).

• A completed UFO is really complete. (Quilted and bound, for example)

• No UFO registrations after January 31, 2019.

UFO Show and Tell Party
At the First Saturday Breakfast Club in May (May 4th)  we will have a special UFO Show and Tell Party. Bring everything you completed during the Challenge and claim your bragging rights. We’ll draw for the prizes during this party, but you don’t have to be present to win.

Prizes
When we draw names from all the entries on May 4th, FIVE lucky people will win a yard of fabric/month for a year!  Remember, the more UFOs you finish the greater your chances of winning!

BLOCK LOTTO

Play Block Lotto! Come by to see this month's fabric pack. Each month we will reveal the new Block Lotto collection at the 1st Saturday Breakfast Club.

• Buy your fabric pack (5 fat eights) for $7 by the 25th of the month.

• Make two 12 1/2 inch blocks from each pack.

• Bring them to the shop by the last day of the month.

• For each two block set you create, you’re entered into a drawing to win ALL the blocks.

• Drawings held on the first day of each month. The winner will be eligible for 20% off fabric to finish the quilt if desired (sashing, borders, binding, backing)
