Quilt Documentation Event
Sponsored by the Colorado Quilting Council
Saturday, May 19, 2018

"The Colorado Quilting Council Documentation Project is a statewide effort to document the history of both old and new quilts in Colorado, through oral history interviews, identification of patterns and designs, and photography. The goal is to permanently record the history of the quilts for future generations.

The documentation process registers quilt work into an archive and database for historical preservation of information regarding the maker, owner, materials and patterns of quilted items that "live" in or were created in Colorado. This is not just for older quilts, but also for newer, wonderful work of the many quilters in this state.

The process of documentation involves a photograph of the quilt and completion of an information form, which describes the maker, location, materials and techniques used. Documented quilts are each assigned a unique number, which is recorded in the database along with the information the owner provided. Stories about the quilt's life, awards, mishaps and repairs are all important elements to record.

At a cost of $8 per quilt, owners receive a label with its documentation number to affix to the quilt for future identification, and a booklet containing the photos and printout of the information you provided regarding the quilt. The cost is $5 per quilt for only the registration label".

On Saturday, May 19th, Cortez Quilt Company is hosting one of these documentation events. This is a great opportunity for our local quilters to have their work documented.
Please call us for more information. We have a limited amount of time slots available. Please call to reserve your spot now.
