Mystery Quilt Reveal and More

Saturday morning, April 15, 9 a.m. - don't miss this! If you did our last mystery quilt please bring it for show and tell, and if you didn't do this one join us to see what everyone else made.

We'll launch a new full-size mystery quilt in the Fall. Until then, we have a special mystery for you. It's Mystery in the Southwest: A Three Fabric Throw, an original Cortez Quilt Company design. On Saturday we'll hand out the details, fabric requirements, and the first clue. If you purchase your fabric that day to make the quilt you'll get 10% off.

Then, in next week's Quiltzette (April 17) we'll publish the fabric requirements and the first clue in this five-clue mystery. In subsequent weeks, we'll publish the remaining clues. This project is great for beginning quilters and above.

New Fabric

Two gorgeous collections arrived last week. This elegant black, cream, and gold metallic with butterflies will make up nicely as a quilt, wall hanging, or tote bag.

And this red and black collection is unique in that the third color isn't white . . . it's a very light cream. Just beautiful.

Little Quilt May

We’re working our way through the year creating these adorable raw-edge applique wall hangings. Make them with or without the month at the bottom. These fit perfectly in the small wire stands. With the month added to the bottom the finished size is 12 x 16. Join anytime . . . you can backtrack and make the earlier months or make them later as each month rolls around.

P. S. We now have these patterns for all 12 months in stock. Each pattern includes custom buttons.

Beginning Quilting
Two Saturdays: April 22 & 29, 2017
9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
$119, includes supplies

Master the basics of piecing and quilting in this two-session class. You’ll choose four fabrics and make a beautiful quilted 35″ x 35″ wall hanging/table topper. Learn how to measure, cut, piece, press, machine quilt, and attach binding. This class will give you the skill and confidence you need to become an accomplished quilter. Class taught by Karen Childress and Judith Swain.

Youth Class: Unbridled Horse Wall Hanging

Learn to use a panel, piece a border, and make the horse you choose puffy and realistic looking. Add a handle to finish into a wall hanging. Aimee King will teach.

Youth Class: Mother's Day Surprise

In this class students will make something special for Mom. We're not saying exactly what because it should be a surprise! Aimee King will teach this class.

Yarn Shop Classes

Knitting 101
Friday, April 21, 2017
1:00 – 3:30 p.m.
$29, supplies included

In this class you will learn to cast on, knit and purl, bind off, and start working on a basic ribbed scarf. You may choose to learn continental (“picking”) style or English (“throwing”) style. A pair of knitting needles and ball of yarn are included in the class fee. Limited to four students; youth and adults welcome. Sue Maxwell will teach this class.

Third Thursday Demo: Bargello

Join us on Thursday, April 20 at 12:30 p.m. when Judith Swain will take the mystery out of bargello. These quilts look impressively complicated, but once you understand the concept and know a few tricks, you’ll be on your way to making a beautiful quilt, table runner, or set of placemats. Third Thursday demos are always free and last 20-30 minutes. No RSVP required.

Join us for a Sunday afternoon workshop with guest educator Shanna Stordahl and learn to machine quilt using acrylic rulers and a unique presser foot. With this technique you can make beautiful, symmetrical designs on your quilts. Participants will use BERNINA 7 and 8 series machines as well as the Q20 sit-down long arm.
