2017 UFO Challenge: Tuesday Deadline for January
Bring in your January UFOs no later than Tuesday, January 10 at 6 p.m. to register. Get more details here. Quilters: Take 15% off batting and backing fabric if you purchase those items for your UFO on the day you register. New Class Registration ProcessOne of the features in our new computer system is a class scheduling module. Going forward, when you sign up for a class you'll receive an email receipt that includes your supply list and details about any homework that needs to be done before class. You'll also receive an email reminder 2-3 days before your class. In order to hold a spot in class it must be paid for at the time of registration. We're happy to sign you up over the phone. Just have your payment information handy.

Get Your Three Month Class PassTake unlimited classes at Cortez Quilt Company for three months for only $69. Purchase a Class Pass anytime. It’s activated when you take your first class and expires three months later. Classes with supplies included in the price and those taught by out-of-town instructors are not included in Class Pass.

Great as a place to keep keys, your phone charger, and loose change, or leave it empty and enjoy it as a decoration on a side table or nightstand. Make one of two sizes using double-sided fusible, heat-moldable foam. Ann Sam will teach this class.

Banded Baskets Friday, January 20, 2017 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. $29, plus pattern We’ve had requests for this class from some of our knitters, so here it is. These “open wide” baskets with handles are perfect for knitting/crochet projects and much more. Soft & Stable gives them enough body to stand up and open for easy use. Choose one of three sizes to make in this class that will be taught by Cindy Dahl.

Skill Builder: Log Cabin Saturday, January 21, 2017 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. $10, plus ruler The log cabin block is a traditional treasure – and so versatile! In this Skill Builder session you’ll learn to make 6-inch blocks that are constructed intentionally oversized and then trimmed down with the Creative Grids Log Cabin Trim Tool so that they come out perfect every time. Make as many blocks as you’d like in class (and make more at home) to turn them into a pillow (shown), table runner, or quilt. Karen Childress will teach. Building on what you learned in the morning pattern reading session, now you’ll learn to read and create knitting charts. Anne Worthington will teach. Bring a pad and pen to take notes. Graph paper will be provided. Feel free to bring a chart that you have questions about and Anne will help you.

Cabled Hat Wednesday, January 18, 2017 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. $29, plus supplies
In this class you’ll learn how to do a provisional cast-on and do cable knitting. Make this warm, cozy hat for yourself or as a gift. This class is for intermediate knitters who already know how to knit in the round. Anne Worthington will teach this class.

Intermediate Knitting 13 Weeks Starting Monday, January 23, 2017 Mondays from 12:00 noon – 1 p.m. FREE with purchase of Building Blocks book AND yarn $75 if you bring your own yarn (book required) If you’re ready to take your knitting to the next level or need a refresher course after being away from your needles for a while, this fun 13-week class is just the ticket. Each week you’ll make a block (for a total of 12), each featuring a different stitch. In the final session you’ll sew them all together and have a beautiful afghan. BERNINA Club: Bobbinwork Tuesday, January 10, 2017 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. $5 kit fee Bobbinwork is the creative solution for sewing with fancy, decorative threads that are too thick for the needle. Decorative thick threads or yarns are wound onto the bobbin and sewn from the wrong side. Learn the techniques for creating successful bobbinwork with a variety of decorative threads, yarns, and silk ribbon and use stitches, combinations and free-motion methods that will enhance any project.
