2017 UFO Challenge

If one of your goals for the New Year is to wrap up some unfinished projects we're here to help. The 2017 UFO Challenge begins January 2 and runs through March 31.

Each of those three months, bring in up to three UFOs no later than the 10th to register them. Return with any or all of them completed by the last day of that month and for each one finished your name will be entered into a drawing. We'll draw a name each month and the winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to the shop. Just think, if you play for all three months you could finish up to nine projects!

For quilters, UFOs may be quilts, table runners, or wall hangings. No size restrictions. For knitters and crocheters, anything unfinished on the day of registration is eligible.

Quilters: Take 15% off batting and backing fabric if you purchase those items for your UFO on the day you register.

Knitters/Crocheters: Take 10% off anything you purchase on the day you register your projects.

Cortez Quilt Company staff members are participating in their own challenge. The rules are the same but they'll enter a separate drawing. Each month the winner will select a local non-profit and the shop will make a $100 donation to that organization.

We look forward to seeing what everyone brings in this year for the Challenge!

Block of the Month

Getting to Know Hue starts in January. The finished sample is hanging at the shop and it's stunning. Stop by to see it.

One of the  nice features about this 96" x 102" quilt is that the four applique blocks are laser-cut and pre-fused making them quick and easy. Also, the pieced blocks have a background fabric border around them so that you trim blocks down to the perfect size (so no stressing if your finished block is a tiny bit off). When it's time to make the lone star featured in the center of the quilt, we'll schedule a free class for everyone who is participating in the Block-of-the-Month. You can sign up for this program now. The cost is $29.99 per month for 12 months. Block kits will be available on the 5th of each month starting in January. We're happy to ship monthly to our out-of-town customers. Limited supply and it's half sold out already. Don't miss out if you want to make this quilt.
