YOUTH CLASS
Log Cabin Sewing Case
Thursday, July 21, 2016
1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
$25, includes pattern and all supplies

This handy case will hold all of your sewing notions – scissors, needles, thimble, and more. Youth classes are open to boys and girls ages 8-16. Aimee King will teach this class.

One-Day Mystery Quilt
Friday, July 22, 2016
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
$29 (no pattern needed)

Sine Skaggs has come up with a great quilt pattern – her own design – that lends itself beautifully to a Mystery Quilt. In this class you’ll learn a unique quilt-as-you-go technique as you connect your quilted blocks with lattice work. Make this quilt using 12 or more coordinating fabrics (e.g., jewel tones, one color family, traditional prints, thirties) plus one fabric for lattice work and borders that should be brighter/bolder/stronger than the others. Pick up the supply list when you register for the class.

Good News About Downtown Parking

Downtown parking is a problem. We get it. When the restaurants are busy, yoga is in session, or there's a hot new blockbuster playing at the movie theater it can get really tight. A couple of weeks ago I sent an email to City Manager Shane Hale with a few suggestions about parking. He responded within minutes. (Who says government officials don't listen? Shane rocks!).

The upshot is that you'll soon see signs at the intersection of Main and Chestnut letting drivers know that there is free, unlimited parking available in the lot behind the County buildings (to the South; see diagram). It's a big lot that's about a 1-2 minute walk from our shop. This is a great place to park, especially when you're coming to class.

Hopefully as locals and tourists begin to take advantage of this lot - now that they'll know it's available - there will be more spaces open on Main and nearby side streets for short term parking.

July Demos

Join us on either Thursday, July 21 at 12:30 p.m. or on Saturday, July 23 at 8:30 a.m. (note earlier time) when Karen will demo Leah Day's Dancing Butterfly pattern. How can you demo a pattern? Well, let's just say this is very different from your typical pattern. Dancing Butterfly is a quilt-as-you-go project that teaches you 24 different free motion quilting designs, step by step. It's really quite remarkable. Attend one of these demos if you . . .

• Are curious about how to free motion quilt on your home machine

• Have done some free motion quilting and want to learn new designs

• Are stuck in a rut doing the same few designs all the time

• Want to dramatically increase your confidence as a free motion quilter

During the demo we'll view one of Leah's short "how to" video (dozens are included with the pattern) and Karen will share all the tips and tricks she learned while working through this exciting process.

So mark your calendar for one of these times . . .

Thursday, July 21 @12:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 23 @ 8:30 a.m. (note earlier time for this month only)
