This isn’t actually a class, but rather an opportunity for everyone who was inspired by our last Third Thursday Demo (thanks, Ann!) to come in and use our space to work on their t-shirt quilts. Spread out, use our big ironing boards, share ideas, exchange stories about the t-shirts you’re cutting up to turn into keepsake quilts. This event is free but please call to reserve your space. We’ll limit this to six people so that there will be plenty of room to work.

Hand Applique – With Guest Instructor LaWana Ferrier

If you’ve ever seen LaWana Ferrier’s hand applique work you know you’ll be learning from a master when you take this class. Shown here is one block she made and you can see two others at the shop. Choose any block from the popular Rose of Sharon book and you’ll be on your way to making a beautiful hand appliqued table runner, wall hanging, or quilt. LaWana will share her best technique tips so that you’ll feel confident using this method. We will be taking up to ten students in this class since sewing machines are not required and we’ll have more space in the classroom as a result.

Classroom Machines

Our classroom is fully stocked with BERNINA 350 Patchwork Edition sewing machines which are available for students to use during classes free of charge. That's right . . . no need to bring your machine to class (unless you want to, of course).

Same Day Sewing Machine Service

Now that we have two certified technicians on staff we're able to offer same day machine service. We hope this will be especially helpful for our out of town customers. Here's the scoop . . .

+ Same day service by appointment only. Please call 970-565-7541.
+ We will take one machine per day for same day service.
+ Machines must be at the shop by 9:15 a.m. and will be ready by 1:00 p.m.
+ Same day service is for machines that need routine service (clean/oil/adjust).
+ A clean/oil/adjust often solves minor issues such as tension or stitch quality problems.
+ If a machine needs advanced repairs or parts need to be ordered we will need to keep it longer than one day.

We service all brands of sewing machines.
Give yours the care it deserves by having it cleaned and serviced annually.

BERNINA Club: Scissor Case – What a wonderful gift idea!

This month our BERNINA club will feature another “make and take” project. We will be making a scissor case so bring the size scissors you want to make it to fit. Techniques will include “mock quilting” and optional methods of binding. Bring your own sewing machine or use one of ours. Please call 970-565-7541 or e-mail Cindy no later than Monday, October 26. A supply list will be available as the class gets closer.You do NOT need to own a BERNINA to attend this free event.

Tip of the Week: Show Your Sleeves

Karen made this recently and attempted to hang it without first stitching the sleeve down on the back. A happy accident. Turns out not stitching the sleeve down and letting it show can actually add to the look of a finished project. She ended up stitching this one down since the sleeve wasn't the same fabric as the border and didn't coordinate well enough with the other fabrics in the rooster, but on a future sample we might just might consciously coordinate and show the sleeve on purpose. Isn't is great that we can break the "rules" whenever we choose!
