New Arrivals

Just in time for Independence Day, we received this historic Pledge of Allegiance panel along with three coordinating fabrics. We're envisioning this as a beautiful wall quilt hanging in area classrooms when school starts this year.

This nice collection of batiks also arrived last week. Yummy!

Admission to The Scrappers (an ongoing group – join anytime) is the purchase of the book Scrap-Lovers’ Quilts ($13.95)
Scrapper sessions are free. PLUS . . . each time you attend you’ll receive a bag of scraps to help keep you excited about your project!

Join The Scrappers and spend the second Friday of every other month working on a scrap quilt of your choice from the book Scrap-Lovers’ Quilts. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish during a full day of sewing without the distractions of home! Each time you attend you’ll receive a bonus scrap bag to add to your collection or trade with others while you sew. Attendance at The Scrappers is FREE but space is limited so do call reserve your seat in the classroom.

If this afternoon class you’ll make any one of these cute zippered pouches and maybe even more than one. Quick to make, the “Cash and Carry” collection holds your change, bills, credit cards, sunglasses, and more. Aimee King will teach this class. No homework.

Youth Class Update

Our July Youth Classes are almost full and because we've heard from several parents/grandparents that they'd like to enroll a young person but that said young person can't make it to all four sessions (kids are busy these days!), we're opening up a few one-class seats as follows:

Do You Hand Quilt?

A nice gentleman who recently moved to Cortez came in the shop the other day carrying a large wood quilting frame that he found in the garage of his new home. He doesn't quilt and asked if we might find a good home for this item. If you are interested in this, it's free to the first person to come to the store. No phone calls, please.

Embroidery Club: A Mug Rug for All Seasons

These mug rugs are made entirely “in the hoop.” If you have not yet tried this embroidery technique, you’ll be amazed by how easy it is to create these pieced mug rugs and embroidery applique designs in one hooping. No need to bring your machine. We’ll watch the video and then Cindy will demonstrate using our 790E. Tip of the Week: Quick Quilts Using Panels

Need a quilt in a hurry? Consider starting with a panel. Add a couple of borders, use Minkee or Cuddle Cloth for the backing, and you have a warm baby quilt. Add larger borders and/or simple pieced blocks on two or four sides and a throw size quilt is ready to go. Here's a sample of a baby quilt we made recently as a shop sample. The panel is called Mommy & Me. Too cute!
