FEBRUARY ACCESSORY OF THE MONTH
|
As we all know, we are having a real winter, with lots of snow and now very cold. The Pinon Project is in desperate need of coats, gloves, hats, scarfs, quilts, blankets, and the like.
Between now and February 16th, bring in your cold weather items, and we will get everything to the Pinon Project. Please make sure items are new, or in great, and clean condition.

Winter is the perfect time to complete our UFO's (unfinished objects!) We have changed things up a little just for fun, and are playing UFO Bingo!
DATES: Now - Thursday, May 11th
Rules:
* You will need to bring in your started, but unfinished project in to register. Registration has started, and you have until Thursday, February 10th to enter.
* Each project you enter needs to have a minimum of three hours that it will take to complete it. Your projects can be quilts, bags, garments, placemats, table runners, or wall hangings. If your item is not on this list, ask to see if it will qualify!
You will be assigned an UFO Bingo Card. You will see that the middle is a free space, with four other spots easy to fill in with the date completed. When you have completed the project, you will bring into the store to show it off. You will then choose which Bingo square to fill in. When you achieve a Bingo, you will be given an entry to win a $100 gift certificate. If you keep going and get a Blackout, you will receive 5 additional entries.
This challenge has started. You must bring completed projects in by Thursday, May 11th for it to count as finished. We will be having a UFO Show N Tell at Breakfast Club on May 13th, along with drawing for the gift certificate winners! You do not need to be present at Breakfast Club to participate.
Good Luck!

Dates: Now - Thursday, March 30th
We love ALL of Fabric Cafe's 3-Yard quilt books, plus they are certainly customer favorites. Each book is jam packed with fun patterns that you can quickly accomplish, plus each one takes only 3 yards of fabric! These quilts are just plain fun, but also make the perfect gift or charity quilt.
RULES
You may use any of Fabric Cafe's 3-Yard Quilt Books.
To participate in this challenge, your fabric must be purchased either at Cortez Quilt Company and More, or at Quilted Corners in Farmington.
You will pick a pattern from a book, and complete it according to the directions. If desired, you may then "spice" it up by appliqueing designs, embroidery (hand or machine), decorative stitches, fancy quilting, etc.
Your completed quilt must be turned in by Thursday, March 30th.
Breakfast Club will be held Saturday, April 1st (one week early due to the Easter Holiday). We will be having a special Show N Tell of the 3-Yard Challenge Quilts. You do not need to be present at Breakfast Club to participate. If you can't be there, a staff member will show your quilt for you.
Quilts will then be hung in the store until Saturday, April 22nd. Customers will be viewing the quilts during this time period, and will be voting on their favorites.

The 2 biggest reasons that Dress A Girl Around the World is important to me is:
- That child may only have that one dress or pair of shorts that was given to them. - The provided label that is sewn on the garment identifies that child as someone that is being looked out for... thus increasing their safety. Thank you to those who came to the organizational meeting this week, and to Cindy for hostessing. We ran out of kits so that is a great thing! It is never too late to join in! Dress A Girl Around The World is a "volunteer group that makes simple and unique dresses for girls in impoverished countries around the world".
For more info on Dress A Girl Around The World, go to their website here.
Cortez Quilt Company and Quilted Corners are both partnering up with this great organization, what better use for our fabrics and embellishments!
