OPEN SEWING DAYS ARE BACK!
|
Join all your quilting friends, or make new buddies, at our Open Sewing Days. Happy Stitcher's Club will be meeting the following Wednesdays October 12th & 26th. Bring a project to work on, along with your sewing supplies. All that is left is to have fun. (Don't forget you can be working on an apron!)
|
This Thanksgiving Eve, Tie One On (an apron of course!) and bring joy to the life of someone that is in need, or feeling out of sorts. Participation is easy and uplifting: * Simply wrap a loaf of bread or baked good in an apron * Tuck an encouraging note or prayer into the pocket * Present your offering to a neighbor, friend or person in your community who could benefit from your gesture of kindness. (Please provide us with people who you feel should receive an arpon) * Tie One On - and put the "give" back into Thanksgiving. Tie One On Day™ is a win-win, for the participant and the receiver. And by embracing TOODay, you will make someone else’s day brighter. “Women clad in aprons have traditionally prepared the Thanksgiving meal, and it is within our historical linkage to share our bounty.” ~EllynAnne Geisel Giving Thanks With Aprons - Celebrating Acts of KindnessCQC participated in the Tie One On project in 2018 & 2019, and what a wonderful endeavor it was both years!
What we need is homemade aprons (and right before Thanksgiving baked goods). The more aprons we gather, the more people we can bring a dose of cheer to!
Please join us on Wednesdays (except the 3rd Wednesday of the month) on our Open Sewing Days ~ Happy Stitcher's Club to work on aprons together.
|
Additionally, we challenged Quilted Corners' to see who could come up with the most aprons. Whichever store wins will have major bragging rights, along with a pizza party! The following is a quote from Cassidy: "Since you ladies are falling behind on getting these aprons made for Tie one on day, (Quilted Corners is definitely going to win!) I'm volunteering to do a sit in at the haven for anyone who wants to work on making some! Come in Monday the 10th & 17th in the morning and we'll try to whip some out. Bring some fabric and your favorite apron pattern, or you can get some at the store right next door, along with your basic sewing supplies, sewing machine, etc! See you guys there! Cassidy Sometimes Cortez Quilt Company worker, all times Quilted Corners winner. (Sorry Mom, even with this we'll still beat you)"

ART & LANDSCAPE GROUP BLOCKS WITHOUT BORDERS
|
Art & Landscape Quilting Group Thursday, October 20th 1:00
• Bring your 12" x 12" challenge piece to share ~ inspired by the SAQA offerings Susan M. sent out after our last meeting. I've heard rumblings from a few attendees about their pieces and can't wait to see them.
• In order to move our Cliff Palace group project along, we will have a work session for this during both October and November meetings. No machines needed (unless you are at that stage) just bring your strip at whatever stage you are with it and we'll work on our panels together. Susan will be there to shepherd (nudge) us along!
• If you aren't doing one of the panels, please bring an art quilt project to work on.
• Our Reverse Applique demo and instruction is deferred until cozy Winter time.
• Bring your Show and Tell items to share - it's always inspiring.

Cavalier Crows was inspired by Designer Jan Mott's love of autumn and day trips to the local pumpkin farm. "Their first stop at the local farm was a hike through the rows and rows of pumpkins. All shapes, sizes and colors dotted the field. A murder of crows could be seen picking seeds from a pumpkin that split open. Then, up next was walking through the tall fields of sunflowers. Blooms bursting with color and seeds for harvesting. Great feed for birds to give our feathered friends throughout the winter. Harvest time is the best season of the year with the rich, colorful brilliance of the season."
|
"This new collection is just brimming with an abundance of striking coordinates waiting to be-sewn into smart projects. These projects could range from wall hangings, quilts to kitchen coordinates. Imagine table runners or even a place-mat. We hope you are inspired to create a few beautiful quilted treasures from the Cavalier Crows collection."
