Come and join other embroiderers on Sunday afternoon and make one or two freestanding lace projects. This cute Easter basket is an option, and there will be several other designs to choose from as well.

BERNINA Club

Free (RSVP and supplies required)

Learn how to make pintucks and their many variations. Pintuck feet in four styles create pintucks in a variety of sizes and spacing for different fabric weights. Learn about corded and decorative stitch pintuck options. Plan to stay and make a kitchen towel with pintucks and decorative stitching or add pintucks to the “Cash and Carry” pouch. Think of all the projects that can be spiced up with pintucks! Don’t forget to bring show and tell for chances at a door prize.

This group focuses on techniques and BERNINA feet and accessories. Sometimes we make a project and sometimes we practice a technique. You can bring your own machine or use one of ours. You don’t need a BERNINA to participate. We meet the second Tuesday of the month from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Occasionally there is a small kit fee or a pattern to purchase for a project. Otherwise, the club is free. Bring show and tell of a project or two that you have completed or are working on. We’ll have light snacks, watch a video, give a door prize, and learn together.

Software Club

This club is geared toward those of you with BERNINA Software 7 or 8, however if you have a different version of BERNINA software or are contemplating a software purchase we encourage you to join us. We meet the third Tuesday of the month from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Bring show and tell, a USB stick for a copy of the lesson, and your computer loaded with BERNINA software to create a design. Our video will highlight a new feature in Software V.8 and that will be followed by a lesson in Software 7.

Good Software Habits

When working with BERNINA software, it is important to delete backup files on a regular basis. I recommend doing this after each project. If you don’t, you may end up with a software crash. If you are not sure where to find this “Purge” feature, in the search box for your computer, type Purge. Then Double-click on the file that is named Purge. Place a check mark in front of Delete Backup Files and click OK.

Make a note of where the Purge file is located so you know where to find it next time. Better yet, add a shortcut on your taskbar or desktop.

Block Party

Join us for a very special Block of The Month starting in April. On the second Monday of each month you can either pick up your free pattern for that month (there are 12 total) and/or come to Open Sewing and work on your blocks with your quilting friends.

We have the fabric requirements for this 77" x 77" quilt available at the shop, and we can help you choose your fabrics. Use the colors shown in this beautiful image or select whatever you'd like to go with your decor. There is no charge to join this Block of the Month and you can receive the monthly patterns directly from us if you purchase your fabric at Cortez Quilt Company.
