All Things BERNINA!

It’s 2017 and we plan to make this our best year yet for offering educational and fun opportunities for all of you who have invested in the best brand of sewing and/or embroidery machine on the market. We love our BERNINAs, right? Here is a summary of what we have scheduled so far.

BERNINA Club

This group focuses on techniques and BERNINA feet and accessories. Sometimes we make a project and sometimes we practice a technique. You can bring your own machine or use one of ours. You don’t need a BERNINA to participate. We meet the second Tuesday of the month from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Occasionally there is a small kit fee or a pattern to purchase for a project. Otherwise, the club is free. Bring show and tell of a project or two that you have completed or are working on. We’ll have light snacks, watch a video, give a door prize, and learn together.

BERNINA Club: Bobbinwork
Tuesday, January 10, 2017
1:30 – 5:30 p.m.
$5 kit fee

Bobbinwork is the creative solution for sewing with fancy, decorative threads that are too thick for the needle. Decorative thick threads or yarns are wound onto the bobbin and sewn from the wrong side. Learn the techniques for creating successful bobbinwork with a variety of decorative threads, yarns, and silk ribbon and use stitches, combinations and free-motion methods that will enhance any project. Bring your machine or use one of our BERNINA 350 classroom machines. Cindy and Aimee will be your guides. Call 970-565-7541 or email Cindy to sign up.

Software Club

This club is geared toward those of you with BERNINA Software 7 or 8, however if you have a different version of BERNINA software or are contemplating a software purchase we encourage you to join us. We meet the third Tuesday of the month from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

During this year’s Software Club we will show a video of a new feature in BERNINA Software 8 and then we will have a discussion and lesson of a technique using Software 7.

We have added a new twist to software club this year. There will be no charge for the event if you bring something you have created using the lesson from the previous month. Otherwise the cost is $5 (cash, please) and we will donate all fees collected to a local charity on a quarterly basis.

You are encouraged to bring show and tell of projects you are working on or have completed. We have light snacks, a door prize, and time to share best practices in machine embroidery. Bring your laptop loaded with software and a USB stick to take home a copy of the lesson for the month. Here's the current lineup . . .

Bring something you created using the December lesson “No Rules Allowed”

Software 8: Alternating Pattern Runs and Using Basting Stitch Markers
Software 7: Stippling around a design in a quilt block
Bring a quilt label you created using what your learned in January.

Software 8: To be determined.
Software 7: Creating a recipe towel using your favorite recipe.
Bring a project you created by stippling around a design. (Maybe a potholder?)

Embroidery Make & Take

Wouldn’t it be fun to machine embroider with friends? We will meet on some Sunday afternoons from 1-5 and some Tuesday evenings from 5-9 to complete an embroidery project. This one is next Sunday.

Feet Retreat

Join Cindy and Karen for a full day of hands-on learning about 16 different BERNINA presser feet. Feet Retreat will take you far beyond the basics when it comes to using the proper presser foot for the task at hand. Many BERNINA presser feet have multiple uses – some practical and some just flat-out fun. If you own a BERNINA (or if you’re thinking about investing in one) you won’t want miss this event.
