Barb Morgan from Durango designed this beautiful pattern and is coming over to teach the class for us. The finished size is 24″ and it can be made in traditional colors or anything you care to choose. You’ll need a 10 degree wedge ruler to complete the project. Homework includes cutting. Please pick up instructions and the pattern when you sign up for the class.

A Little Somethin’ Jacket

This will be your “go to” jacket – it looks great with jeans, slacks, or over a skirt or dress. We have barkcloth in stock that Tricia used for the shop sample (see it hanging in the shop). Our lightweight denim – available in several colors – would also work well for this project, as would our Australian prints. Whether you’re new to garment sewing or have done it in the past, you’ll have fun making this swingy jacket. Tricia Hale will teach this class.

Peggie will be at the shop on the morning of Wednesday, October 11 to assist anyone who would like to do their homework then.

Fancy Dish Dresden Plate

Learn to make this beautiful Dresden plate with Judith Swain as your guide. She made the shop sample that features nine plates and a unique scalloped border. You can choose to make as many plates as you’d like to turn into a pillow, table runner, or quilt of any size. You will make at least one during class. The book for this project is out of print but we were able to secure six copies for this class. Purchase yours when you register.

 

Every Day Every Way Tote with Guest Instructor Peggie Buckholts

Guest instructor Peggie Buckholts will teach Every Day Every Way – the most versatile tote we’ve seen in a long time. It features deep exterior pockets on the front and back as well as expanded slip pockets on each side to hold keys, sunglasses, magazines, water bottles, and more. Inside organization includes a full-zippered mesh pocket and several additional divided pockets. This bag measures 15″ x 12″ and works as a large tote, carry-on bag, or even a diaper bag. The hardware for this tote is very nice quality and Soft & Stable makes it durable and comfortable to carry. Homework REQUIRED: Machine quilting and cutting all pieces. Peggie will be available on Wednesday, October 25 from 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to assist students who would like to do their homework for the class here at the shop. Beginning Quilting

Master the basics of piecing and quilting in this two-session class. You’ll choose four fabrics and make a beautiful quilted 35″ x 35″ wall hanging/table topper. Learn how to measure, cut, piece, press, machine quilt, and attach binding. This class will give you the skill and confidence you need to become an accomplished quilter. On The Town Bag

On The Town is another great By Annie pattern. It doesn’t show up in this image, but the front panel has been treated with Fabric Magic which shrinks the fabric up to 30% giving is a crinkley, textured look. The finished bag measures 12″ wide x 11″ tall x 5″ deep. Do your cutting before class and you should be able to finish the bag in one day. Judy Bryan will be your instructor.

 

First Saturday Make & Take: Holiday Stars

Choose any pattern that we have in stock (Papa’s Pickup is shown here), do your tracing onto fusible web of your choice before class, and assemble your masterpiece under the direction of Suzanne Butterfield. Finish off your work by adding hot-fix crystals if you’d like. This class is limited to six students. Register today!

 

MODA Cake Mix Sewing Day

Free with purchase of Cake Mix ($12.99) and EITHER a layer cake or background fabric

Join us for a fun sewing day that requires little brain power and results in quilt blocks that you can put together in a variety of ways. Choose from eight different recipes. You’ll need one layer cake (forty 10″ squares), 3 1/8 yards of background fabric, and thread for piecing. That’s as complicated as it gets!

Class Policies

Classes are limited to 6-8 students (minimum of three) depending on the complexity of the project.

Class fees must be paid and any required pattern/book/notions must be purchased in advance to hold your space.

Store credit will be given for paid classes if you cancel and give 48 hours notice (otherwise, no credit). Refund or store credit (your choice) given for classes if we cancel due to lack of sign ups.

Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, straight pins, etc.) to class. If you prefer, you may use one of our BERNINA classroom machines. We request that you use either Mettler or Aurafil thread on classroom machines.

Bring lunch (we have a fridge and microwave) or order out from one of the many fine restaurants on Main Street. Coffee, tea, water, and soft drinks are complimentary.

It is important to be on time for class. We recommend that you arrive 10 minutes before the class start time. If you arrive earlier please be aware that your instructor will not be available until the class begins.

Please do not park on Main Street in front of the shop when you are here for a class.

Please silence your cell phone while in class. If you need to make a phone call during class, we ask that you step outside or to the back of the store where it’s quiet so that other students are not distracted.

Youth classes are for students 8-16 years of age. All other classes are for those 17 and older. Except for nursing infants up to 12 months of age, children may not attend classes with parents.
