This program offers a great opportunity to learn how to quilt with rulers. Shanna Stordahl of Hesperus Colorado will be leading this fun and educational project. Shanna has this broken down into a four part block of the month enabling you to have a completed project in a relatively short period of time, while also learning a new technique.  Piecing of the blocks will be done at home between classes, with class time devoted to learning how to do the ruler work. We had a lot of customers request a class taught by Sine Skaggs after they came to her trunk show. Sine will be here teaching how to make these playful bookmarks out of felted wool. If you have wanted to try a felted wool project – now is also your chance! Hand stitched, with embroidery floss and basic embroidery stitches, these make a perfect project to take along on vacation, or to work on while watching TV. They are quick and easy to boot – you can get an early start on Christmas Presents!

July Skill Builder: Spider Web Ruler/Compass Rose Quilt Pattern

Judy will introduce you to the Creative Grids Spider Web Ruler.This double duty 45 degree ruler creates a variety of blocks using 3 to 10 inch strips or strata widths. Once you have cut the triangles, reposition the ruler to cut the background kite and/or corner shapes. Depending on the positioning of the light and dark fabrics, the finished blocks resemble a spider web or a four-pointed star. Attend this class to learn how to use the ruler, and you are on your way to completing your next quilt!

Class Policies

Classes are limited to 6-8 students (minimum of three) depending on the complexity of the project.

Class fees must be paid and any required pattern/book/notions must be purchased in advance to hold your space.

Store credit will be given for paid classes if you cancel and give 48 hours notice (otherwise, no credit). Refund or store credit (your choice) given for classes if we cancel due to lack of sign ups.

Bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies (scissors, seam ripper, straight pins, etc.) to class. If you prefer, you may use one of our BERNINA classroom machines. We request that you use either Mettler or Aurafil thread on classroom machines.

Bring lunch (we have a fridge and microwave) or order out from one of the many fine restaurants on Main Street. Coffee, tea, water, and soft drinks are complimentary.

It is important to be on time for class. We recommend that you arrive 10 minutes before the class start time. If you arrive earlier please be aware that your instructor will not be available until the class begins.

Please do not park on Main Street in front of the shop when you are here for a class.

Please silence your cell phone while in class. If you need to make a phone call during class, we ask that you step outside or to the back of the store where it’s quiet so that other students are not distracted.

Youth classes are for students 8-16 years of age. Youth members may take the adult classes with instructor approval.

Except for nursing infants up to 12 months of age, children may not attend classes with parents.
