Knitting 101
Wednesday, September 20, 2017

In this class you will learn to cast on, knit and purl, bind off, and start working on a basic ribbed scarf.  In this class you will learn English style (throwing) knitting. A pair of knitting needles and ball of yarn are included in the class fee. Limited to four students; youth and adults welcome. Anne Worthington will teach this class.

 

Knitting 102

This class builds on what students learned in Knitting 101. Now you take your craft to the next level by learning how to increase and decrease. Bring needles and any leftover yarn from Knitting 101. If you are already proficient in casting on, binding off, and doing knit and purl stitches, you may be admitted directly to Knitting 102. Limited to four students; youth and adults welcome. Anne Worthington will teach this class.

 

Introduction to Tunisian Crochet

Tunisian Crochet is a needlework technique which combines elements of both crocheting and knitting. In this class, you will learn the basic stitches of Tunisian crochet while making a sampler washcloth. Students should have prior knowledge of basic crochet stitches. Cabled Mitts

Learn how to knit in the round and knit cables while making cozy fingerless mitts that will keep your hands warm this winter.  This class is suitable for advanced beginners, so you just need to know how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off.  These quick and easy mitts use worsted or aran weight yarn and require a set of 4 double pointed needles that will give you a gauge of 8 sts per inch.  You will also need a cable needle and 2 stitch markers. Anne Worthington will teach this class.

Crochet 101

Learn to crochet and you’ll be on your way to making beautiful baby blankets, booties, hats, scarves and more. In this class you’ll learn how to chain stitch, single, and half-double crochet. Once you know these basics, you can take your work home and make a potholder or small scarf with the yarn that is provided for the class. Sue Maxwell will teach.

Crochet 102

Take your crochet skills to the next level by learning a variety of new stitches in this two-hour class. You should know how to chain, single, and half-double crochet to attend. Bring yarn and the appropriate size crochet hook. Sue Maxwell will teach.

 

Double Knit Earband/Headband

10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
$29, plus pattern ($5)

Choose one of six different designs and knit this warm, thick reversible headband in two colors  . . . without having to do any stranding. In addition to learning to knit two layers of fabric at the same time, you’ll learn a provisional cast on, and the kitchener stitch.  You’ll use circular needles and two complementary colors of yarn.  This technique can then be used to make warm hats and mittens. Anne Worthington will teach this class.

Class Policies

Class fees must be paid and any required pattern/book/notions must be purchased in advance to hold your space.

Store credit will be given for paid classes if you cancel and give 48 hours notice (otherwise, no credit). Refund or store credit (your choice) given for classes if we cancel due to lack of sign ups.

Bring lunch (we have a fridge and microwave) or order out from one of the many fine restaurants on Main Street. Coffee, tea, water, and soft drinks are complimentary.

It is important to be on time for class. We recommend that you arrive 5-10 minutes before the class start time.

Youth classes are for students 8-16 years of age. All other classes are for those 17 and older. Except for nursing infants up to 12 months of age, children may not attend classes with parents.

Please do not park on Main Street in front of the shop when you are here for a class.

Please silence your cell phone while in class. If you need to make a phone call during class, we ask that you step outside where it’s quiet so that other students are not distracted.
