Coming this Summer . . . Row by Row!

Last year Colorado didn’t participate in this nationwide event and we had so many people asking about it. Thankfully, this year shops in all 50 states and many in Canada are in on the fun. What is Row by Row? It’s shop hop type event with no fees, no passports and all summer to play. Simply visit any of the participating shops and receive a free pattern (and pick up a kit if you'd like) for a row in a quilt. Combine your rows in any way to create a unique quilt that represents the fun you had traveling throughout the summer. Travel with friends, discover new quilt shops and have fun collecting rows. Create a quilt using at least 8 different rows and be the first to bring it into a participating shop to win a stack of 25 fat quarters (6-1/4 yards of fabric!). Click here for more information about Row by Row and plan your summer travels accordingly!

Block of the Month

And then there were THREE! That's right . . . only three more people will be making this beautiful 82" square quilt. The program starts this month and wraps up in November (nine months total). The cost is only $27.99 per month. Call 970-565-7541 or stop by the shop to sign up today. If you live out of town we're happy to mail your kit each month.

Tip of the Week: Skinny Borders

A customer was in the shop on Saturday choosing border fabric for a wall hanging. She planned to put one very skinny border (i.e., 1/4 - 1/2 finished) on first and then a larger outer border. Cindy Dahl volunteered that when she's doing this she always makes the skinny border at least a quarter inch wider than necessary to start with, and then trims it down to the size she wants after it's sewn on. Her theory: It's much easier to handle a somewhat wider piece of fabric than a teeny-tiny-skinny one that's apt to stretch during stitching.
