Aurora Winter Challenge

The days are short and winter is long. Beat those winter blues by participating in our first challenge for 2018. Purchase an Aurora Winter Challenge Kit (one Aurora panel and one yard coordinating Aurora fabric, available at the shop for $32.00). We will have two categories to compete in: 1. Quilt or wall hanging, or 2. Any type of three dimensional item you can dream up.

Launch Date: January 16, 2018
Submit Your Entry By: February 28, 2018

Entries will be on display for voting by visitors and customers March 1 - March 3. The winner in each category will win a $50 gift certificate and will be announced on March 5.

Rules: Either category must be an ORIGINAL design, and must contain both the Aurora panel and the coordinating fabric. The panel and coordinating fabric have to be used somewhere other than your binding or backing. Your project must contain an embellishment and a decorative stitch. There are no size restrictions.

Third Thursday: January 18

Art and Landscape Quilt Group: January 18

The A&L (art and landscape) Quilt Group meets regularly on the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. at Cortez Quilt Company. Bring your Show & Tell, exchange ideas, and give and receive inspiration. No RSVP necessary. This meeting usually lasts about an hour.

Beginning Ruler Work: Machine Quilting with Rulers

Join us for this half-day workshop with guest educator Shanna Stordahl and learn to machine quilt using acrylic rulers. With this technique you can make beautiful, symmetrical designs on your quilts. We will loan you a presser foot for your BERNINA machine.

Join us for a fun sewing day that requires little brain power and results in quilt blocks that you can put together in a variety of ways. Choose from eight different recipes. Road Trip!

Carolyn Rose and Suzanne Butterfield are organizing a "Quilting Safari" . . . a bus load of fun for quilters. The trip is April 6-14 and includes stops at eight quilt shops across the US, a visit to Branson, MO, and much more. Contact Carolyn at 970-882-4305 for more information.
