New Batiks

We received a shipment of custom designed western/farm themed batik fabric last week. Here are three from the collection. Stop in to see the rest.

---

National Parks

These beautiful fabric "stamps" arrived on Saturday. We have Mesa Verde (shown here) along with Bryce, Zion, Arches, and the Grand Canyon. They measure approximately 6" x 7".

Think of the many ways you can use these. Wall hangings, bag pockets, pot holders, placemats . . . endless possibilities.

Karen made this wall hanging as her Sunday afternoon project.

Yarn Shop Classes

Twined Bag
Saturday, July 22, 2017
10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
$60

Guest teacher Caroline Spurgeon will teach a full-day class in twining on Saturday, July 22. Twining is an ancient technique that is quick and easy to do. Twining is suitable for a variety of projects and adaptable to many materials. Twined bags have many uses depending on the size and material used. They may be simple and durable bags for shopping, knitting or book bags, or elaborate bags made with fine yarns and intricate in design. Students will be working on their own adjustable loom. We will begin with the warping process and continue with the basic techniques and complete with finishing ideas. Students will leave class with a finished bag and ideas for twining more of these useful bags. Supplies: scissors and heavy or bulky yarn (we have this in stock). Looms will be available to borrow for class and you may purchase one from Caroline if you wish. She will furnish warp yarn and items to accessorize your bag. Ages 14 up.

BERNINA Club: Couching
Tuesday, July 11, 2017
1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Free, RSVP required

Couching, the process of adding yarn or other embellishments to a fabric surface, is a great way to add texture, color and dimension to any project. Learn to create couched flat braid, raised twisted cords, corded hem-stitching, and free-motion couching. We’ll experiment with several different presser feet used with couching. A variety of yarn sizes paired with the appropriate foot can work wonders for just the right amount of embellishment. Please bring show and tell items for additional chances at the door prize. Bring a friend. Owners of all brands of machines are welcome. To register please call 970-565-7541 or email Cindy.

Embroidery Make & Take

Bring a T-shirt, tank top, or other knit garment, along with your machine and a hoop sized for the design you’d like to use. Bring a design or a blank USB stick and choose one when you arrive for class. We’ll discuss design placement, hooping, and stabilizers. You can do this!
