Finally . . .


Our search for the perfect iron is over. We've been using this one in the classroom for the past few months and everyone loves it. It has two heating elements: one heats the soleplate and the other heats the steam generator which means no spitting or leaking. Additional features include bypass of the automatic shut off, 1.25 cup water capacity, two steam levels, and a nice long cord. In stock now . . . get one today!

Quilt-As-You-Go Braid Runner

Quilt-as-you-go is a great technique to have in your repertoire, and you’ll learn it in a day making this classy braid table runner. Instructor Judy Bryan made a shop sample in pretty batiks, and this pattern lends itself to many nice fabric choices.

Inside Out Placemats

For our First Saturday Make & Take in March you’ll make fun and easy placemats. This pattern is perfect to show off large print fabrics, and there is no binding to attach. A little over 2 1/2 yards makes four placemats. You’ll make one in class to learn the technique, then finish up at home. Or, come back on one of our Open Sewing days to complete your project.

Knitting 101

Skill Builder: Domino Knitting

Learn to knit larger fabrics using this basic square as a building block.  Bring DK or worsted weight yarn in multiple colors and appropriate sized needles. This skill builder is appropriate for confident beginners and intermediate knitters.

Three Job Openings

(1) Quilt Shop: We will train the right person for this job. Must be good at math and proficient on the computer. This position is minimum three days per week, preferably four.

(2) Yarn Shop: Must know how to crochet and knit, be familiar with choosing yarn for projects (i.e., know fibers, understand gauge, etc.), and be proficient using computers. This position is three days per week.

(3) Shop Assistant: This is an entry level position. Responsibilities include cleaning, running errands, checking in stock, organizing the store, and more. This position is 15-20 hours per week.

The ideal candidates will be happy, energetic, have a positive attitude, and enjoy people; learn quickly and have the ability to multi-task; be organized, self-directed, possess a strong work ethic, be confident and have the ability to listen well and communicate clearly; be respectful and committed to the success of our business.

Montezuma County Fair Seeking Two Quilt Judges
