Mystery Quilt

Begin on or anytime after September 10, 2016 when the first clue is handed out. Five remaining clues will be available on or after the 10th of each month through February, 2017. We’ll have a Big Reveal gathering for all participants in May, 2016.

Fabrics required for 69” x 87” (twin) quilt:
#1 — Light, 4 1/4 yards
#2 — Medium, 2 1/2 yards
#3 — Dark, 2  yards
Binding — 1 yard of #3 (dark)

Optional border to make quilt into full/queen — 2 5/8 yards.

Hint: The twin size has a narrow light border.

This would be a good quilt for an additional pieced border. If you choose to do this purchase an extra yard of each of the three fabrics.

Backing for twin size — 5 1/4 yards
Backing for double/queen — 8 1/4 yards

Contrast is very important for this quilt. All three fabrics should have a definite difference in value and/or color in order for the pattern to emerge. Avoid directional fabrics.

Cost to play: $20 or FREE with purchase of fabric for your mystery quilt top from Cortez Quilt Company. If you live out of town and want to play just give us a call. We can mail you monthly clues.
