Sewing and Quilting Classes

Aimee is back (yay!) and so are our youth classes. We plan to offer 1-2 classes each month until school starts. For June we’ll be making these cute and handy baskets. Fabric is wrapped around clothesline and then it’s zig-zag stitched together. These can be made in different sizes and shapes. Call today to sign up. Class limited to six youth students.

Four Events This Saturday!

ThisSaturday, June 18, we have a full day of fun and learning planned. Guest teacher Shanna Stordahl will teach three classes (see below), one of which is FREE.

June 18 is also World Wide Knit In Public DayGather a few friends and go knit or crochet at any location around Cortez that is open to having your group sit and stitch . . local coffee shops, libraries, parks, pubs, wherever. Come back to Cortez Quilt Company & Yarn Shop between 3 and 6 p.m., show us a photo of your KIP group, share a story about your experience, and receive 20% off yarn!

Intermediate Crochet

If you know your crochet basics (chain, single, double, etc.) and feel ready for the next step, join guest teacher Shanna Stordahl to make this darling scarf. You’ll get a good start on it in class and finish up at home. Use a light weight yarn (solid or multi-color) for either a fun fashion scarf of a heavier weight to make this to wear when the weather cools down.

Shanna Stordahl will guide you through the intricacies of Ravelry, the online knitting/crocheting, and all-things-fiber website. Ravelry offers patterns (many free!), access to discussion forums and groups, reviews, and much more. This one-hour demonstration will introduce you to Ravelry and show you how to navigate through all that it has to offer.

Continental Knitting

Evening Sit & Stitch: Every Thursday – 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. starts June 16th

In addition to our Tuesday and Friday morning Sit & Stitch sessions, were now offering an evening one as well. This late afternoon and into-the-early-evening event is a great way to wind down after a busy day and connect with other knitters and crocheters in a relaxed environment. Arrive anytime between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. and stitch away until 8 o’clock. Bring dinner if you’d like (or order from one of the restaurants on Main Street) and a project to work on and enjoy yourself. Evening Sit & Stitch is free. Adults only, please.

BERNINA Software Club
The Ins and Outs of Distortion
Tuesday, June 21, 2016
5:30 – 8:00 p.m.

This month we’ll work with Artwork Canvas and the distort tool. It’s never easy to predict what you will create when you apply distortion, but what fun it is to be surprised. Use your distortions to create a unique placemat for your table. Be sure to bring your laptop loaded with BERNINA Software 7 Designer Plus, a USB drive for a copy of the design of the month, and show and tell items for additional chances at a door prize. To sign up please email Cindy or call 970-565-7541 by Friday, June 17.
