Tip of the Week: Press It!

This is what happens in every Beginning Quilting class here at Cortez Quilt Company. A student is measuring something that she's pieced and calls for the instructor. "It came out too small," the new quilter says. But it's not. It simply hasn't been pressed properly. If you gently pull two fabrics in your pieced block (or element for a block) apart and notice a small pleat at the seam line, more pressing is indicated. Quilting requires accuracy in four areas: (1) measuring, (2) cutting, (3) sewing, and (4) pressing. Aim for "four out of four" and you'll have great results.
